Aim of the course

Hazardous substances in the workplace can affect anyone, not just the person who necessarily handles them. Hazardous Substances can cause many ill-related issues, including occupational cancers. Controlling the substances correctly is key to ensuring the delegate remains safe.

It is important that employers and employees comply with the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 by undertaking training to ensure all working practices regarding the control of Hazardous Substances are carried out safely.


Course Content

The COSHH training course has been designed to ensure delegates obtain a knowledge of the risks to health that surround working with hazardous substances. The course will include how to undertake a COSHH assessment, by identifying the risks and the control measures needed to do so, this will ensure the delegates fully understand how to work safely around hazardous substances. The course will cover the following:

  • Understanding the basics of identifying, measuring and controlling exposure to harmful substances
  • Requirements of COSHH Regulations
  • Forms of Chemical Agents
  • Forms of Biological Agents
  • Classification of Hazardous Substances and their associated health risks
  • Risk and Safety Phrases
  • Routes of Entry into the body
  • Health Surveillance
  • Emergency Procedures

To undertake this course, there is no preparation needed and all successful delegates will receive a TTS Certificate which is valid for three years.
