Aim of the course

Buildings are a very important element in our world. Not only do they provide us with shelter, an environment to live, work and play, they also protect us from the outside elements. Humans, in general spend nearly 90% of our lives inside buildings, therefore, all buildings must be maintained regularly for the safety of its occupants.

Due to the importance of buildings needing to be maintained on a regular basis, this 1-day course will outline the implications of poor hazard recognition and risk assessment, whilst analysing the effects on the individuals and their employer.


Course content

The Building Maintenance course has been designed to provide a basic understanding of areas of responsibility for health and safety within a building and the environment surrounding the building itself. The course will cover everything from hazardous zones to individual behaviour that can help reduce the accidents that occur. The modules that are taught within this course are: Duty of Care, Power Tools, Occupational Health, Asbestos Awareness, Access and Egress. Upon completion of this course, delegates will have the knowledge to:

  • Demonstrate their understanding of the subjects by successfully completing each module assessment paper
  • Appreciate how they personally can influence good standards within health, safety & the environment
  • Understand the value of risk assessment and have the knowledge to recognise when change to a generic assessment is required
  • Understand the common hazards associated with work.


Who should take this course

This course has been developed for Site Managers, Building Operators, Project Managers etc. or those that are responsible for the management of workers within a building.



To undertake this course, there is no preparation needed. All successful delegates will receive a TTS Certificate.
